Want more Facebook followers without spending a fortune? Here are 3 quick strategies you can implement to get more Facebook followers for free. The first two are one-time strategies, while the third is something many don’t know about that you can do daily in just a few minutes.
Invite your friends
This is the easiest thing to do and you only need to do it once. This is great for when you’re just starting a page and need to build a quick base to show some credibility.
To do this, simply go to your page, and click on “Invite friends to like this Page” in the right-hand column. If you don’t see it there, look for the “invite friends” link under the “more” drop-down menu. Then select who of your friends you’d like to invite.
This action isn’t limited to just admins. If you have good friends, family, or employees, you can ask them to invite their friends as well.
Suggest the page
If you have a list of email addresses, you can upload this list and if Facebook can match the email address to a user, your page will show up as a suggested page to like. They will not receive a notification like in the previous strategy of inviting friends, but it’s the next best thing.
This strategy works best for warm audiences who are already familiar with your brand. That way when they see and recognize your page, they are more likely to like it.
If you already have an email list, that is the best place to start.
Next, you could export your personal email contacts and upload that list.
Finally, if you have a large network on LinkedIn, you can actually export the email addresses of all your LinkedIn connections.
There are limits to how many people you can suggest to per day. According to Facebook, “you can upload contacts up to 5 times for a maximum of 7,000 contacts per day per Page. You can upload a maximum of 5,000 contacts at a time.”
To upload your email lists, go to the “more” drop-down menu, select “suggest page” and follow the prompts from there.
Invite people who have liked posts
This is a lesser known strategy that is extremely simple. This works for any page as long as you have under 100,000 Facebook followers.
Simply click on a page post where it shows the number of likes or reactions on the post.
That will pull up the list of all the people who liked/reacted to the post. From there you can see if someone has already liked the page or if they’ve been invited to like the page. If neither of those is the case, there will be an “Invite” button visible.
Click that button, and that’s it! The person will receive a notification from the page that they have been invited to like the page.
There are limits to how many people you can invite a day. I don’t know what that exact number is, but after I hit it, it took about 24 hours before I could invite more again.
Catch up on old content
When you first start using this strategy, it may take a while to get caught up on inviting people from past posts.
Once you catch up, schedule just a few minutes a day (depending on how much engagement your page gets) to invite new people who have liked your posts.
Works on ads too
If you’re already running ads, you can convert those who have liked your posts into Facebook followers, even if those posts aren’t on your front facing wall.
One way to access these posts is from your ads manager. There you can navigate through different campaigns to view ad posts.
Another way is to look at your notifications from your page. You can filter by likes to see all activity regarding people liking your posts or your page. This way you can see the most recent activity on posts, open them up right from there, and invite. This section will show both organic and paid posts.
Encourage engagement
The more shareable content you create, the more people will like your posts, thus providing a larger pool of people to invite. Encourage people to like and engage with your posts.
Promote posts, not pages
If you want to increase your page fans, consider boosting more content posts or creating ads to your website rather than setting up “like” campaigns. When you promote content or drive people to your website rather than paying for page likes, the benefits are three-fold.
- You are driving traffic to your website where people may be buying or subscribing, and they are being pixeled so you can retarget them with more ads later.
- People are liking, commenting, and sharing your content while increasing your invite pool.
- You will get page likes straight from the ads as there is a “like page” button associated with the ad.
Conclusion
There are many different tactics to grow your Facebook audience. If you don’t know where to start and are strapped for time and cash, this is an easy place to start.
